Tamiya 1/48 P-47D Thunderbold “Oh Johnnie”

This is the amazing P-47D by Tamiya. There is very little I can take issue with on this kit. I built this one during Covid just prior to starting Hammerhead Model Making, and the build video was one of the first I uploaded to YouTube. So, its got a special place in my heart. I added an Eduard Big Ed set to this to show the open ammo bays, detailed wheel wells and engine and cockpit details. I also added a lot of scratch building mainly by way of plumbing on the engine, cockpit and wheel wells. The markings are aftermarket decals depicting Oh Johnnie, the aircraft of Lt Raymond Knight. I recommend looking up his story, he received the Medal of Honor Posthumously and was one of the last to do so of the war. his exploits are worth a read!
